Backyard Garden

Everyone seems to be writing about their gardens lately.  I am feeling left out, so here are some pictures of my backyard.

Ok, so we have a little work to do.  I am actually posting this for my friend Emily.  She told me she would come visit me and help me plan my garden.  She has an awesome website called My Square Foot Garden.  She has a whole color system that tells you when you should start planting based on your frost dates.  I looked mine up and it looks like I don’t have a frost date so I can plant whenever I want!  But I also read that some areas are too hot in the summer, so maybe I can’t.  She also has tons of information about how to make your beds, what plants can grow next to each other, and yummy recipes so you can use what you grow!  Anyway, Emily had a giveaway last week that I didn’t get around to telling you about.  She created two e-books that will help you get started with your garden.  I have my copies, and I need to read and implement them soon.  Mainly because I want to get my backyard cleaned up so Kevin can play in his wading pool this summer.  The poor boy never gets to go outside…unless we’re going to Disneyland!  So, Emily, when are you coming???

Hey, I did spend some time cleaning up the backyard. It looks better than this now but it still could use some work. I just can’t seem to motivate myself because its an apartment. There is no return on the investment. I guess it would be good for Kevin to play in his pool and sandbox this summer. When get warmer maybe we could spend a few weekends getting the backyard in better shape.

Nice! That looks like a fun project! I totally understand on not wanting to work on it because you are renting…maybe your landlord would but the plants for you if you tell him you will do the work?
