4 months, now 5
Here is a post I started to write about Kevin back when he was 4 months old. Now that he is 5 months, I guess I should post it!

No shame, this blog is now all about Kevin. He is four months old now! I just watched some videos from when he was born. He has changed so much!
First, his stats. He weighed in at 15 lbs. 8.25 oz. and he is 25 inches tall. Should I be concerned that he used to be in the 95th percentile for both and now he is in the 55th for both? I guess he is just slimming down?
We went to a new doctor and she was just as good as I expected. I’m not really sure what I’m looking for in a doctor. She looked him over and said he was perfect and she asked about our home life to make sure he’s not being abused and we’re ready for an earthquake. Hmm, I guess I should be prepared.
Kevin had one oral vaccine yesterday and two shots. He did not flinch when he got the first shot, but he screamed for the second one. He was pretty easily consoled, so that made me feel better.
Yesterday he finally rolled over from tummy to back. I think he had some momentum from falling over so we might not see it happen again anytime soon. But I was pretty excited. He talks a lot more these days and laughs when we play with him. He is still a very good baby and only cries when he is hungry or tired. He usually takes a short nap in the morning and a long nap in the afternoon. He plays really well by himself on his mat. He loves it when I count the snaps on his clothing, maybe he will love math like me! He likes to put the pointer finger of his left hand in his mouth. He doesn’t seem to be spitting up as much as he used to, which is nice for me. But it is still enough that I always smell like milk.
We think he is just about as close to perfect as a baby can get.
More things I want to remember about Kevin at 4 months:
**He gets impatient when I’m nursing him and I stop him to switch sides. He will squeal the entire time I make him wait.
**He is sleeping really well overnight. I think he even wakes up in the morning and lays there quietly until he is ready to get up. Either way, he lets me get my sleep and I’m grateful for that.
**He enjoys looking at himself in the mirror. I will use that trick sometimes when he is crying and I cannot get him to stop. It usually works.
**His baby acne is gone and his cradle cap is nearly gone. It seemed like it took forever!
**He likes to cuddle with me. It makes me feel pretty special that he likes me to hold him.
**He has been using his pacifier when he goes down for a nap and to bed. But sometimes we don’t give it to him because I don’t want him to get too dependent on it. Sometimes it is the only thing that will calm him down. But he is pretty good about going to bed at night without it. He might cry for 10 minutes. Not bad I’d say.
**He loves to watch the tv or computer screen. Does this mean he will have bad vision? I guess he’s doomed anyway with us for his parents. He still enjoys watching Dancing with the Stars. When we get on Skype he stares right at the screen and won’t make a sound. He is just mesmerized by his Grandpa Bunting.
**Kevin does not have a stuffed animal or a security blanket. He prefers his burp rag. He holds it up to his face with both hands and sometimes puts it in his mouth.
**He has been talking a lot more the has started that big laugh that I love to hear from babies. Here is a sample of his laugh. I love it!

Here Kevin is demonstrating his recent talent, sitting up (sort of). We have been practicing, but he is still pretty wobbly.

Some more about Kevin now that he is 5 months: (this post seems so disjointed, kudos to anyone who makes it all the way through!)
**Kevin has had a few days where he cries and cries and won’t stop. All I can think is that he must be in pain. He drools a lot, but he’s been doing that for a while. He went one day and refused to eat, he didn’t eat from 8:00 to 4:00.
**He hasn’t rolled over since that one time. He prefers to just lounge around on his back or be held in a standing position.
**We have been having fun conversations with him. He will repeat what we say, I swear I heard him say “hi” and “yeah”. What a smart boy!
**He is working on sitting up more and will even sit in a shopping cart or a high chair. I am paranoid and have to hold onto him the entire time though.
**I got him a bouncer toy and he enjoys hanging around in it, but he hasn’t figured out how to jump yet. But he really likes playing the music and playing with the toys in front of him and gnawing on the front of his seat.
**Everywhere we go people tell us how cute he is. Can you tell I’m a proud mom? I just can’t get enough of this little boy with bright blue eyes and red(ish) hair!
What a cute post. I sure miss you Kevin! He does have a cute laugh. Can’t wait to see you and hold you again little guy! Love you, Grandma
Becky,
Oh, he is so cute and sweet!
The fussy, not eating thing might be teeth. Adam got his first tooth at 5 months. If it is, find out if you can give him Ibuprofen. So much better than Tylenol, especially for teething.
Emily
Mom – do you miss us too? Maybe we could just put Kevin on a plane and send him there for Christmas.
Emily – I have been wondering when his teeth will show up. But I keep hearing about babies who go through all the teething symptoms and the teeth don’t show up for months. He definitely drools a lot and always wants to chew on things, so maybe soon. I have never heard of giving Ibuprofen, I’ll have to ask my pharmacist sister! I have heard people like teething tablets so maybe we’ll try those.
Eva still drools a lot, and she is 2. I’m not sure she is ever going to stop. We hope to see all of you at Christmas!!
What a cutie! His hair is getting so long! Maybe our little guy will have hair someday.
Yeah, my little guy has been drooling for about 6-8 weeks now. But, no teeth. Some days it’s worse than others too. I have heard the teething tablets are good also. I’m still not going to try them until he gets too cranky though. So far, he’s just a happy drooler. Thanks for the update! I check all the time. He is so cute!
Kevin is very cute, babies are so sweet and loveable.
