Some Updates

I’ve been wanting to add an update for a while but now I can’t think of what I wanted to write about.  (This is Becky, I didn’t realize I was signed in as John.)

Oh, I remember one. So, I don’t really know how much weight I have gained because our scale broke right about the time I found out I was pregnant. We got a new scale a month or two ago and it’s pretty cool. You can program it so it remembers you and it tells you your body fat and water and other stuff. I didn’t program it for me since I’m pregnant and it would be way off. John did, and a couple weeks ago the scale started to think that I am John. I was a little offended when it first happened but I’m over it now.

My doctor thinks I’m going to have the baby this week. John is hoping I do so he can get a little vacation from work. I’m not ready yet so I’m going to say not until next week. But we packed our bag on Sunday just in case.

Some people asked questions in the comments a while back.  Those people probably don’t even care any more but I am the kind of person who will keep thinking about something until I do it.  It’s bad because I’m a procrastinator so I always have a list of things in my mind bugging me.  I’m not really sure what the blog protocol is, am I supposed to email those people?, leave the answer in the comments and hope they come back?, ignore the question and assume they didn’t really care?,  answer the question on their blog?  Anyway, I’m going to answer them here.

Jen – how did I get to have another ultrasound?  I don’t know, the doctor just said, “let’s do an ultrasound next week”.  I probably had 5 ultrasounds up to week 20 but this is my first one since then.  I’m glad she did it, I was curious to see how big the baby was.  Oh, and they measure parts of his body and they can tell from that an estimate of how much he weighs.  I know they measured his leg, but I’m not sure what else.  It’s all geometry, right?

Maria – yes, the plan is to name the baby Kevin Leo after his grandpas.  John is named after his grandpas so we decided to make it into a tradition.  We’ll see if it actually becomes a tradition 30 years from now when we have a grandson.  Funny thing, though, I have not called the baby Kevin yet, I just feel like I should wait until he is actually born.  Lots of other people call him Kevin, which is ok with me, I don’t think we’re going to change our minds.

Steph – I haven’t made a firm decision whether I will have an epidural or not.  I am NOT going into it thinking, I am doing this natural, no matter what.  I will have to see how things progress.  If I can do it without, I will, if not, I will take the epidural and say thank you very much!

We made it to the temple.  It seems like something always gets in the way and our trips get postponed but we went and it was wonderful.  The Newport Beach temple is beautiful.  It’s cool because the walls of one room are painted like the beach there and in the Twin Falls Temple the walls are painted like the Snake River canyon.  I love how they make the temples fit the locations where they are built.

Speaking of the beach, I finally went there last week with my friend Lori.  It was Relief Society beach day and we were the only ones there!  But it was fun to play with her little boy in the sand and surf.  And we ran into a family that recently moved out of our ward so it was good to see them too.

On Saturday I went to this “New Mom Expo”.  They had a bunch of booths and a couple classes and a fashion show.  We got tons of flyers and CANDY and I bought a cute little tie for my little guy.  I’ll post a picture of him wearing it someday.  I really want to get him these white shirt onesies to wear to church, it will be the perfect outfit!  Check out the cool felt flower in my hair.  My friend Mikelle has been making these and she gave me this one because her hair is dark and the black doesn’t stand out in her hair.  I love it!  It’s so cute!  She even let me make/made for me a couple more with her felt.

John’s face has not appeared on the blog for a while, (oh, except that picture from the temple that I just posted).  Anyway, we were at Kohl’s buying maternity clothes awhile ago.  I was checking out and all of a sudden John plops this duck on the counter and says, “let’s get this.”  I thought it was fun that he picked out this little duck for his baby boy.  I hope the baby gets attached, this should be his favorite stuffed toy.

Wow, things really came rushing back to me.  I hope you’ve enjoyed this little summary of what we’ve been up to lately.  Last but not least…there is a new blog on the sidebar.  Be sure to check out this link.  Now, dad, you’ll have to get some good updates on there!

I never know how to respond to questions on my blog either. I was able to get a lot of ultrasounds when I was pregnant with ethan because his kidneys were larger than they should have been. It was nice to have the extra ultrasounds and watch the progression of the baby. I loved it. Good luck with the labor, I am excited for you and hope it all goes well.

Hey cute pictures! I can’t wait to see you two/three, but tell baby Kevin to wait until Thursday afternoon to make his appearance! Love, Mom

I love all the pictures Becky! Especially the one of you two at the temple. It’s so cute! And that duck is too funny! When you told me about it I was picturing a cute little baby duck so it was funny to see a big life-like duck!

I’m glad you like the flower! I’m excited to see the finished products of your other ones!

Did John like Kevin’s first tie?

(I don’t care where you answer my question. :)

WOW, I can’t believe he’ll be here this week or next. I’m so excited for you. That duck is awesome too!!

How exciting! You’re baby will be here soon! I can’t give any advice about how to have the labor since I never had the option. C-section all the way for me. Not what I would recommend if it’s not needed though. The duck is adorable, and might dwarf baby Kevin!

  6. Lori says:

I love the onsie and tie! I have been wanting to get Emmett some “real” church clothes, but don’t even know where to look. Thanks for the great tips! Your hair flower looks super cute and I love the duck!

  7. Lindsay says:

Kevin is so lucky to have a dad that buys such cool toys. Maybe sometime he can come play in Eva’s tunnel! She loves it.

the little onesie is adorable…besides that the only places you can find white shirts for babies/boys is children’s place and sometimes old navy. so, it IS baby kevin…can’t wait to see him and i’m sure you can’t wait either! or maybe i’m the only one who gets miserable the last few weeks!
