All in a day’s work

Published by John under Our Blog

Yesterday there was a book fair outside our building so I went down with my friend John to see what they had.  He bought a book for our friend Matt called “Batman Math Made Easy.”  It’s a long story.  But a few of us in the office decided to start a new tradition, “Worksheet Wednesday”.  We will see how long it lasts.  I am proud to say that I was the first winner of the Worksheet Wednesday timed trial.  See below for my worksheet on the Simple Use of Parentheses.

After the math competition, I got to go help the Tax Practice Leader for the Southern California area on a project.  This guy is the boss of all of us here in the Irvine Grant Thornton tax department, as well as Woodland Hills, LA, and San Diego.  He has a cool office that even has a button above his computer that will shut the door for him so he doesn’t have to get up and close it.  I thought it was pretty neat.  Anyway, he needed some help updating a quarterly tax payment for one of his clients.  This client pays more tax in one quarter than John and I earn in wages combined in an entire year.  That means he has a lot of money.  It’s crazy when I think about it.

Every morning this week when I get to work I log on to see if I have received my test score.  Every day it says, “no credit” and I wonder if I failed or passed.  This morning I logged on and saw “no credit” but when I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and this is what I saw…(I need a 75 to pass)

CBT Exam Advisory Scores received from NASBA.
AUD: Schedule/Attendance Pending.
BEC Advisory Score: 78 - Attended: 05/27/2008 09:17:00
FAR: Schedule/Attendance Pending.
REG: Schedule/Attendance Pending.

I got really excited and called my friend John over (because he is waiting to get his score too) (P.S. John got his score and he beat me by one point).  Yay!  I passed my first test.  Now I have to pass 3 more before November 27, 2009 or else I will have to take this one over again.  What a stressful process!
