After 7 months in our ward I finally feel like we are settling in. I can almost recognize everyone at church on Sunday and we have made some friends to do fun things with. I even know a few people from our stake now because I sang in the stake choir. That was a really fun and neat experience. I miss performing and being able to do it in a bigger group was a lot of fun. Anyway, I think people at church are warming up to us. I was able to give my friend Mikelle a ride to the airport. I was glad she asked me to do it. And then we got to babysit this darling little girl for a few hours. I was trying to take some pictures of John’s babysitting skills and accidentally recorded this video. John did a lot of babysitting when Mariah was a baby. This is his strategy…build a barrier around the baby so she cannot escape, and if she tries, here is what you do…

The weird part for us is that since all our peers have kids we sometimes feel isolated as the only childless couple. it’s frustrating. But good for you guys.
Most people here have kids too. It is hard. Especially when we were in Utah it seemed like everyone our age had 4 kids and everyone who was just married was 8 years younger than us.
If you feel settled at 7 months then you are doing great! We still don’t feel settled (nor recognize everyone in the ward) and we’ve been here for over three years! It’s hard because it seems like everyone is coming and going with all the apartments in our ward boundaries.
I’m really grateful for the ride to the airport. We need to get together again sometime soon! Let’s plan something!
hey you! nice babysitting tactics! at least there are people in your ward that are your age…always fun, the mix of people you end up with in ward isn\’t it? ben saw the look like of your dad and voted yes…i\’m still skeptical!
*snort* That’s funny!
Mark and I have yet to go to our new ward. But, we did have our records transferred last night. Hopefully, our ward will like us.
