Nike+

Published by John at 9:25 pm under Our Blog

I just made a challenge and added my Sister-In-Law. We are going to run 75 miles total by the end of June. This should be fun. If anyone else has a Nike+ and wants to be added let me know. ~ John

Also note, I put the Nike+ widget on the bottom left of our blog. I need to run more.

Hey, of course you can join. Why can’t you join right now, what is the deal with the end of June being a problem? ~john

It is a problem because that is Holly and she is about to have a baby…but Holly, you can still walk, can’t you????

I will join but I don’t have anything to track my miles. I am following an Army workout routine: http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/brent5.htm
So far I have gone about twenty miles minus the rucksack. I walk about ten miles a day laying tar but that’s not running. I accept your challenge.

Hey, this is Jenny, Becky’s friend. I want to join. I don’t have a Nike+ but I have my handy dandy treadmill :) I’ve been looking for a challenge to push me on my running. This is awesome!!

I love that my anti-spam word was run for this comment. How appropriate. Carolyn and I were just looking at this Nike+ thing. How exactly does it work? Is it an ankle strap? Does it connect to your shoe/iPod? Let us know because we both want to join if it’s cool enough.

Nike+ is a receiver and a sensor that tracks your running stats and uploads them to a website. It works with the iPod nano. They have special shoes, but you can use it with any kind of shoe, you can make or buy a case for the sensor to attach to your shoes. Or you can use sticky Velcro. check out the video below for more info - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFYfbHLkaRQ

We have been using it for over a year now, and its pretty cool. I really like it. On the left side of our blog you can see I have 55 total runs. If you have an ipod nano, the sensor and receiver come in a Kit for about $30.00.

I found that each runner will need their own iPod Nano, but you can share the sensor and receiver. Becky and I did this for a while until, we finally got a sensor and receiver kit.

You can pick up an old iPod Nano for less than $100 or sometimes free if your bank runs a promotion (Becky got hers this way).

John- I like that those people that run a lot don’t have a Nike+. Even though I am kicking your butt, they would be way ahead of me!! Thanks for the challenge!

I would love to join - I know I’m late, but I need to try running more!!! Becky, maybe we should try to run together sometime. I’m super slow, so hopefully I wouldn’t annoy you. But I can go for a while. :) Let me know! We can be running buddies!

I thought this was going to be a challenge. Maybe Marcy has figured out a way to cheat the system. Or she is just so awesome. One and one half weeks to go. You guys better get running!
