I was once a part of a group called the Random Chickens. I think they are still out there somewhere and I hope they find my blog. The theme of my entry today is random because I keep having these random thoughts that I think I could write in my blog. I haven’t written anything for quite awhile. It’s partly because I’ve been working at a dentist’s office and haven’t had much access to the computer in the evenings (this funny thing called Battlefield 2 keeps running). It’s also partly because it doesn’t seem like many exciting things have been happening here lately. I don’t have any kids, so I don’t have new baby or first day of school pictures to post. We have been to the beach a couple times, but you’ve already heard about that.
We did take a trip to Hearst Castle yesterday. Cherie wrote about Hearst Castle a while ago on her blog. It is a massive complex constructed by William Randolph Hearst with a main house and 3 guest houses. Mr. Hearst had a spending habit. He would order antique furniture from catalogs and he even ordered the ceilings and wall coverings for his house from antique structures all over Europe. The most interesting thing I remember from the tour was actually about Columbus. Mr. Hearst had two large swimming pools. Even though his pools are large, it was hard for me to imagine that Columbus sailed three vessels across the ocean and the largest of the three, the Santa Maria, would fit in Mr. Hearst’s outdoor swimming pool. You would never catch me crossing the ocean like that. I will take a plane, thank you.
If you’re still reading by now, here’s a funny one for you. John and I have been buying these Clif bars (energy bars) to eat for breakfast (I know, they are full of sugar). One day John wanted to try a different one, so he bought a Luna bar. I asked him if he got any funny looks when he took the bar up to the check-out stand. On the wrapper it says, “high in calcium and folic acid” and “the whole nutrition bar for women.” I appreciated that John let me laugh at him that day.
Nice work.
The pictures look great.
JOHN
