Last year I didn’t really do anything for John on his birthday. I blamed it on the fact that I was on crutches and didn’t want to leave our 3rd floor apartment. This year I am trying to make it up to him by posting pictures of his childhood on the internet. Oh, I also got him a gift.
Enjoy! (turn your music back on to enjoy the jazz)

Ok, my order to sell 50 shares of Apple was executed this morning.
I made about 10% profit.

I’m splitting my post because the really long ones are kind of hard to read. Maybe this will help.
We had our primary sacrament meeting program today. I play the piano for the primary so it was a big day for me. The kids did a great job and they actually sat still for the most part. I had to play the piano pretty quietly when the kids didn’t quite know the songs, but when we got to “I’ll Follow Him in Faith” they really belted it out. I was thinking out my primary group back in Utah. They were small in numbers but strong in spirit. I hope they had a great program this year. I heard that my niece, Abby, had her program today as well, but when the time came she did not want to say her part. I guess next year she’ll be more inclined to participate. I’m sure she was cute up there anyway.
Another random thought…my brother got us signed up for a fantasy football league. We are not doing very well…5th place out of 8. But, we did much better the second week when we had a full team that could actually play. The first week we kind of missed out, I don’t know what the reasons were, but some of our team members did not play that week. So, if anyone reading this has any tips for our team next week, let us know. We don’t watch real football, so our fantasy team is full of guesses. Maybe if we had better reasons for picking our players we would do better.
And now, for Cherie…here is a current picture of Uncle Larry. He is a handsome Italian, isn’t he?

One more thing, we found a toad outside and John had to pick him up. Even though he is 31 now, he is still a little boy inside. John was holding the toad and he dropped him from about 4 feet. That seems pretty high for a toad. The toad got scared and huddled in the corner. When we checked again he had hopped away, so we’re hoping he made it okay.

I was once a part of a group called the Random Chickens. I think they are still out there somewhere and I hope they find my blog. The theme of my entry today is random because I keep having these random thoughts that I think I could write in my blog. I haven’t written anything for quite awhile. It’s partly because I’ve been working at a dentist’s office and haven’t had much access to the computer in the evenings (this funny thing called Battlefield 2 keeps running). It’s also partly because it doesn’t seem like many exciting things have been happening here lately. I don’t have any kids, so I don’t have new baby or first day of school pictures to post. We have been to the beach a couple times, but you’ve already heard about that.
We did take a trip to Hearst Castle yesterday. Cherie wrote about Hearst Castle a while ago on her blog. It is a massive complex constructed by William Randolph Hearst with a main house and 3 guest houses. Mr. Hearst had a spending habit. He would order antique furniture from catalogs and he even ordered the ceilings and wall coverings for his house from antique structures all over Europe. The most interesting thing I remember from the tour was actually about Columbus. Mr. Hearst had two large swimming pools. Even though his pools are large, it was hard for me to imagine that Columbus sailed three vessels across the ocean and the largest of the three, the Santa Maria, would fit in Mr. Hearst’s outdoor swimming pool. You would never catch me crossing the ocean like that. I will take a plane, thank you.

If you’re still reading by now, here’s a funny one for you. John and I have been buying these Clif bars (energy bars) to eat for breakfast (I know, they are full of sugar). One day John wanted to try a different one, so he bought a Luna bar. I asked him if he got any funny looks when he took the bar up to the check-out stand. On the wrapper it says, “high in calcium and folic acid” and “the whole nutrition bar for women.” I appreciated that John let me laugh at him that day.
